How Natural is Birthing?
So recently I have been interested in learning about birth. I'm not pregnant and I definitely don't plan on having a baby ANY time soon but, I was curious. I always asked my mom about how my brothers and I were born when I was little and after dating Reno for sometime I asked him what he knew about this birth or childhood. Then I found this documentary about home births. This one was titled something like 'Birth in America' or something and it was extremely bias. There were no statistics and only 2 or 3 professionals that gave their bias opinions.
BUT I found a documentary on Netflix called "The Business of Being Born". Wow. I always had theories about the drugs doctors used for pregnancies. How could something so natural and wonderful be turned into something so scary and horrible? Some of the stuff this documentary mentioned scared me. I'm glad my mom didn't get an epidural on me or my brothers! I never liked the idea of a shot in my spin :/ ick. I understand Cesarean sections have a time and place but not for a healthy birth. Our country has the highest mortality rate among newborns and women - because of unnecessary intervention.
I'm the kind of person who watches documentaries and feels empowered with knowledge. I'm not saying that I have also been all about the home birthing experience. I was extremely sceptical and I was sure I wasn't like that. But birthing is natural, the fact that I was raised with the "scary lady screaming at her husband for what he has done to her" stereo-type IS SAD. The topic of babies is something I feel very passionate about and I feel like people need to know more about birth and its beauty than its pain. Without pain we wouldn't know what joy even was.

Music Poster
So every summer I do a music poster for my friends Mikaela and Jonny. They always play at Cafe Diem, a semi-local coffee house. And this place totally makes me think water colors, soft dirty browns, oranges, purples, and reds. Enjoy :)

My ambitious Sunday
So I up and decided to make a skirt with my friend Jess. That was at 3pm, lol. Now at 10 o'clock I am trying to figure out where we went wrong in measurements. One of these days this will pay off :)

Happy Mothers Day!
So! Price check ALL flamingo prices. Flowerama is NOT the place to buy one's plastic pink friends. But Hy-Vee is the best flower EVER. Hudson's hard at work, momma loves her hot sauce, and poor Hunter is sleeping.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day with their Momma!!!!!

Back Home
I survived the trip back from New Orleans. We drove through the night Thursday night and arrived in Iowa around eleven am. It was a cramped drive but we had time to spare!
On a similar but not so similar note: my brothers L-O-V-E-D their gifts I got them :} Hunter got a Hawaiian dancer air freshener and Hudson got this sweet stache-sucker!
